Inok Kalkwarf's Video Installation Portfolio

I have used video for both my installation work and as a separate way to communicate artistically. I try to use activities and clothing that demonstrate the conflicting roles of women in society. In my video installations, I try to demonstrate the beauty of ordinary things, and I also try to show them in a different way so that people can understand how these ordinary things like shoes and food affect us in our lives.

This work goes with “We Are What We Were”. Light and shadow of clothing on a line can be interpreted many ways. These are men’s clothes, but women wash them, yet women are in the shadow, and if you take away the men, then women lose their value and purpose. The clothes are always there, but if the sun goes behind a cloud, the shadow goes away. Women are not permanent, but they are dependent upon men. Gray colors, shades of white, and shadows on snow create a feeling of sadness. This is the han.
