The performances I do relate to the installation work. I take simple tasks and aspects of ordinary lives and act them out in an environment which demonstrates their social or cultural significance. One aspect of traditional Korean drama which I emphasize in my performance is what we call han. This han shows the beauty of tragedy. There is an exquisite beauty to intense sadness, and this is expressed as han, which is in integral part of my work. |
